Winners and Grinners at the ‘Battle on the Beaches’ Jiu-Jitsu comp
On Saturday 15 October we hosted our first ever Inter-Academy competition with our friends at Higher Jiu-Jitsu, another Pedro Sauer Affiliate. The "Battle on the Beaches" comp was an opportunity for kids and adults from both academies to test their jiu-jitsu skills against different opponents, in a friendly and fun local competition environment.
Nerves were high but the smiles were bigger, and we couldn't be more proud of every single person who put themselves out there. We witnessed some fantastic Jiu-Jitsu skills, incredible sportsmanship and true grit and resilience from everyone involved.
The winners of each division were:
6 - 8 years, beginners: Clark McLeod (NBJJA)
6 - 8 years, intermediate: Grant Peters (Higher)
9 - 11 years: Luca Simpson (Higher)
12+ years: Ben Harris (NBJJA)
White belt, under 66kg: Alan Hoang (Higher)
White belt, open weight: Sergey Zhuralov (Higher)
Blue belt, open weight: Harry Stankovic (NBJJA)
The icing on the cake was that we raised $1681.70 for Man Anchor, a local organisation who provide vital mental health programs in our community. We believe strongly in building a physically and mentally fit local community, and Man Anchor perfect aligns with our mission.
Huge thanks to everyone who supported this inaugural event. We can't wait to do it again!
