March 2022: Kids Grading Day
To say we’re proud of all our Nippers, Grommets and Titans who graded for their next coloured belt over the weekend is an understatement.
We know there were a lot of nerves in the weeks leading up to, and on the day of, the Grading. It takes a lot of guts to stand up in front of friends, family, coaches and colleagues! But not one of them waivered. When called out, every single kid stood up confidently, listened to the instructions and demonstrated the Jiu-Jitsu moves required to earn their next belt.
These kids have put in the work. They’ve shown up, week after week, month after month. They’ve come back after lockdowns and picked up where they left off. For most, it has been a year long journey to earn all four stripes and be ready to grade. And a year for these kids is a big chunk of their life!
We know Jiu-Jitsu isn’t easy. There are times when you get knocked down and don’t want to get back up again. When you get intimidated and feel uncomfortable. When what you’re learning suddenly doesn’t look like fun and games any more. But when you keep showing up despite all this, that’s when the growth happens.
There are so many lessons learned on the Jiu-Jitsu mats that you don’t really recognise until it comes to Grading day. You see their confidence shine, their anxiety pushed aside, their increased resilience and their physical capability demonstrated.
And this is why we love what we do.
Congratulations to you all.
